2020, MMPA CELEBRATES 10 YEARS & 100 ME PHOTO COLLECTORS!
“No one thinks that they have a photography collection but when asked, everyone it seems has 1-12 images by a contemporary photographer - Maine or otherwise, and the longer we talk, the more images they remember. “
- MMPA Director, Denise Froehlich
WE WANT TO BORROW FROM YOUR COLLECTION AND WE WANT TO KNOW HOW YOU GOT THE WORK.
Did you trade an image, make payments to the artist or gallery? Did you inherit or receive it as a gift? Did you buy it at an auction or benefit? MMPA’s hope is to create an exhibition that sheds light on just how many of us own photographic works and to demystify the process of acquiring art.
We have started a list of who we know that have photographic works in their collection. We’re reaching out to our advisory board and asking who they know and what they have. HELP US SPREAD THE WORD. We are interested in every photographic medium; Artist books, 2D and 3D works, mixed media, projections, installations etc. The exhibition will be curated but inclusive. Are you in someone’s collection? Make them submit!
