My work is based on quiet observation. Solitary ramblings invite a deeper exploration of the world and allow a subject to slowly reveal its nature. I often take unexplored pathways, which leads to fortuitous discoveries. My photographs embrace the unexpected and examine the juxtaposition between the facade and what lies beneath.

“Under the Overpass” My work is rooted in a deep love and admiration for trees. Our human judgement categorizes certain trees as beautiful, while others are perceived as ugly, dangerous or invasive. Some situations contain a humorous aspect, while others are seen as a nuisance. This project examines the complex relationships between humans and the natural environment, and specifically explores the many ways in which urban trees are used, abused, and protected.

Sarah Hood Salomon has been a photographer for over 40 years. Her award winning work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group shows throughout the United States. She is a photography judge, curator, author, and lecturer. She was awarded her MFA in Photography from Maine Media College in 2023.
