Joyce Ellen Weinstein is a prominent artist based in Maine, recognized for her exploration of human relationships through various artistic mediums, including photography. Her work often reflects personal and emotional themes, focusing on the interactions between individuals and their environments.

“Responding with passionate empathy to social injustice, Joyce Ellen Weinstein charges her art works with an imperative for change. Her issues are those of religious freedom, racial equality, feminist strength, and she takes the personal risk of speaking out for shattered lives and dislocated individuals. Frequently working in a series format, Weinstein’s work always includes a raw call for justice.” Dr. Ori Soltes

MMPA is honored to present work selected from the personal collection of prominent gallerist and curator Nancy Davidson. Davidson has greatly influenced the promotion and appreciation of art in the region, often championing lesser-known artists and helping them gain national recognition. Noted for organizing exhibitions that highlight contemporary art, Davidson was the founding curator for the Maine Jewish Museum in Portland, a position she held from 2013 to 2024. She continues to curate, collect and promote Maine artists, perhaps most popularly through her annual Critter Exhibitions, which showcase a variety of artists and their interpretations of animals.
