Joan Proudman combines photographic imagery with digital illustration to achieve works that are seamless, elegant, whimsical, humorous and/or spiritual.
Some people travel throughout the world, but I travel inward into a world of my own. As a child, I loved to draw figures and create fantasy worlds. I guess I never grew up in that sense. - J.P
Every composition is original and meticulously-crafted from public domain or privately owned photography. Cards are printed manually, one at a time. Each card has a short title or caption on the back and are blank on the inside, and come with an envelope and a protective sleeve. Each card is suitable for all occasions. Cards are printed with an ET-8550 Inkjet Printer on high quality, bright white card stock.
Joan received her BFA later in life and enjoyed a long career in dance and theater which has influenced her dramatic style. Her Art has been printed in and on book and CD covers, manuals, magazines and online journals. “Rite of Passage” won Special Mention in Mozaik Philanthropy’s National Art Competition (2020). Proudman's images were recently published in Cafe Review’s Summer Issue out of Portland and featured in Shadow and Light Magazine’s Surreal Issue, (2021). She received "Best in Show" for her portfolio in Stillpoint Arts Quarterly (2016) and her work appeared in and as the cover art of Maine Arts Journal (2019).
