MMPA's legacy and your contribution to it

MY 2026 DONATION/ Endowment CAMPAIGN

Every contribution, no matter the size, plays a vital role in helping us reach our transformative goals. We are grateful for support in all its forms, and we'd love to explore how you can make a difference. Reach out to us at 207.298.7712 or contact.mmpa@gmail.com to discuss your ideas.

This country's greatness was built, in part, by philanthropists and entrepreneurs who gave back — to the arts, to culture, to the institutions that outlast any one generation. Andrew Carnegie alone funded the construction of more than 2,500 libraries built between 1883 and 1929, nearly 1,700 of them in American communities that might otherwise never have had one. The Metropolitan Museum of Art was incorporated in 1870 through the efforts of a private citizens' committee — built not from a royal or imperial collection, but from individuals driven by a love of art. That tradition hasn't ended: in just the past few years, gifts from donors like Oscar and Agnes Hsu-Tang have funded entirely new museum wings.

Their concern was for the greater good: leaving behind not just wealth, but a legacy of stewardship — of our libraries, our museums, our shared cultural landscape. Today, that tradition continues at MMPA, We invite you to join it!

A few ways to give:

One-time donations of any amount
Annual commitments for consistent, predictable support
Posthumous gifts that create lasting legacies
Matching gift challenges that inspire others to give
In-kind contributions through time, networking, and advocacy
Grant writing assistance to help secure foundation funding
Naming rights to honor loved ones or your family’s legacy- we have 2 nameless galleries for now.
