A southerner by birth and a philosopher by training, Crane began his career as a photojournalist at a small town newspaper in Tennessee. This was my first book, a monograph of images spanning 25 years. To me, the spirit of structure is found when the intended design of an object or structure results in a beauty far beyond the intended purpose. This can be felt about places and things big or small, sacred or secular, commercial or personal.
